Last Day of Kindergarten

Grayson's last day of kindergarten was today. It's kind of hard for me to believe the year is up already. It seems like just a couple of months ago that he was starting kindergarten.

I planned to do something today that I had seen on Pinterest, but thanks to Wal-Mart it didn't happen. The plan was to take a picture of Grayson on his last day of school holding a picture from his first day of school. I ordered an 8x10 picture of him from Wal-Mart.com, which was supposed to be here in time, but I still haven't received it. :( I guess I'll have to save that idea for next year.

Not only was it Grayson's last day, it was also Water Day at Clarksville Primary. And, Grayson (and his mom) had a great time!
He enjoyed playing in the water

and playing with his friends.

I think Bobby kind of had a good time, too. He danced to the YMCA...
among other songs. And, he got extremely wet by playing in the water with Grayson's class.

After the water fun, the class had pizza. And, because it was Mrs. Arbaugh's birthday, they had cake and cupcakes, too.

We gave Mrs. Arbaugh a couple of gifts, including this framed scrapbook page I made.

Grayson has had a great year in kindergarten this year. He did get into trouble a few times, but he LOVED his teacher and his class. Now, it's on to first grade!

An Egg-cellent Easter Sunday

Easter morning Grayson got his basket full of goodies from Bobby and me.

He was really happy about all of the chocolate that was in it, but he was most excited about the Angry Birds game that he got. (Yes, he's still wearing his Christmas pajamas.)

After church we headed over to my parents' house for lunch, which was delicious.  Grayson got even more Easter goodies there.  My favorite (sarcastically speaking) would have to be the sweatband set that was a part of the Easter basket that GiGi got for him.

(Please, oh please, let those things get lost in his room somewhere!)

We had a good time visiting and playing with Grayson's new toys.

Then, it was time to head home for our Sunday afternoon nap.

Of course, we had to take some family photos first.  This is probably about Take 27 and it's still not the greatest photo ever.  Why must family pictures be so difficult?!

Easter Egg Hunt

This morning the kindergarten classes at Clarksville Primary School had their Easter egg hunt at Cline Park.  Bobby and I went a little early to help "hide" the eggs for Grayson's group.  There were soooo many eggs and very few actual places to hide them.  At some point we were just basically throwing eggs on the ground.

Grayson was super excited to get to go.

I made him a special Easter bucket out of an empty paint can, which he really liked.

It didn't take long after their arrival at the park for the egg hunt to begin.

The kids had a specific number of eggs they could get.

Grayson searched and searched for eggs

and finally got his 13.

Then, it was off to the playground equipment for some fun with his friends.

It was during this time that Bobby and I found out from Mrs. Arbaugh that Grayson had kissed a girl at school earlier in the week (Yikes!).  We so didn't see that one coming.  Apparently, during P.E. on Monday Grayson kissed a little girl on the cheek.  We're not sure exactly how it came about and Grayson was absolutely no help when we asked him about it.  To say that Grayson received a lecture or two about kissing girls at school (or anywhere else for that matter) would be a tremendous understatement.  I think he now knows that was a big no no.

Next up was lunch and then a little more playtime before heading back to school.

They all had fun, but were very tired and ready to go back to school.

Tee Ball is Tee-Rific

Grayson had tee ball practice today at Langlois Field.

Though he really enjoyed tee ball last year, he seems to be having more fun this year.

He knows a little more and can do a little more than his first year.

It also helps that several of his friends are on the team.  Last year he only knew one boy on the team.  This year he knows almost all of them.

I think this season is going to be a lot of fun to watch.

And I know at least one little boy who is going to enjoy his time on the field immensely.

Cleaning Out and Shooting Hoops

This morning Bobby and I did a little cleaning out of our garage.  It had gotten really, really full and I'm so glad we finally got around to getting rid of some things.  While we sorted thru our junk treasures, Grayson played with several of his toys.  The thing he enjoyed the most was the basketball game he got for Christmas.

Our garage has been so stuffed that he hasn't really had that many opportunities to play with it.

He had a really fun time shooting baskets

and kept getting farther and farther away to see if he could still make one.

At the end he wanted to show me his game face.

Looks pretty tough, eh?!

Happy Birthday Aunt Ruby

It was my Aunt Ruby's 81st birthday today.  Grayson and I helped her to celebrate by going to lunch at Cracker Barrel in Russellville with my mom (her sister) and my two cousins, Peggy and Nancy (her daughters).

(Peggy, Ruby, Nancy, and my mom with Grayson after lunch)

Grayson has always loved Aunt Ruby and definitely loves to help her eat her birthday dessert.  I think he may have eaten more of it than she did.

Happy Birthday, Aunt Ruby!

We wish you many more!

I Love A Rainy Night

Since Grayson is on Spring Break this week and we wanted to do something fun, we decided to take a short trip to Tulsa.  Bobby, Grayson, and I along with Darren, Rachel, Ada, Isaac, and Hannah headed out Monday afternoon.

Our plan was to go to the Tulsa Zoo and to do a little swimming in the hotel pool.  We were able to do the swimming part, but the zoo part...not so much.  On our way there, we ran into some very heavy rain.  And it didn't let up all evening long.

Once we checked in to our hotel, the dads and the kids went swimming for a little while.

After swimming we headed to dinner at Los Cabos Mexican Grill and Cantina.  We had eaten there a few years ago and knew we wanted to go back.  The food was delicious and the kids had a good time, too.

(Isaac, Hannah, Ada, & Grayson - We were lucky none of them fell into the fountain!)

It was still raining Tuesday morning, so we decided the zoo was not going to be a viable option for us.  The kids wanted to swim again, so they went after breakfast.

Grayson wore his dad's t-shirt after swimming because he was cold.  He got a big kick out of wearing it because it was so big on him.

After swimming we checked out of the hotel and headed to Andy B's for a little glow in the dark bowling.

The kids really liked the bowling.  It was Grayson's first ever time to bowl and he didn't do as well as he would have liked.  He got upset a few times because he wanted to be better at it.  But, he said he wanted to bowl again soon. I think the adults enjoyed the bowling, too.  It's been a while since Bobby and I have bowled and I had forgotten how much fun it was.  Of course, the next day when I had some sore muscles from it, I wasn't thinking it was so fun.

Next, we headed over to the Woodland Hills Mall for lunch and shopping. Ada and Hannah found some treasures at Claire's and wanted to wear them immediately.

Hannah got a pair of colorful fingerless gloves, so she and Ada each wore one.

While the ladies shopped, the boys had fun in the play area and rode the carousel.

Before heading home, we did make one other stop.  Just outside the mall is a Cheesecake Factory restaurant.  Rachel and I thought since we were so close, we shouldn't leave Tulsa without getting a piece.  I'm sure the calorie count in one slice is astronomical, but it was sooo worth it.  I had Chocolate Mousse cheesecake and it was so good!

Hopefully, we can get back to Tulsa soon to go to the zoo...and have another slice of cheesecake.

Take Me Out To The Ball Game

Johnson County Boys Club baseball season has rolled around again.  Grayson will be playing tee ball for the second year with his dad as his coach.  Tryouts and the draft were yesterday.

I didn't take 50 pictures at tryouts like I did last year.  I only took this one photo and it was with the camera on my phone.

But even though I don't have lots of pictures to show for it, Grayson had a ball at tryouts.  He loves baseball and, just like in basketball, he bounces around constantly when he's on the field because he's so excited.

Grayson doesn't look so small out on the field this year and has improved a lot since last season.  He actually looks like he knows what he's doing and knows what to expect.  I'm excited to watch him play this year.  I know he is going to have a lot of fun.

A Gift of Appreciation

Because it is Teacher Appreciation Week at Clarksville Primary School this week, I made a gift for Grayson to give to his teacher.

First, I started off by asking Grayson to tell me some things he liked about his teacher.  Some of the things he said were kind of funny (and cute), but all were his words.  Then, I made a scrapbook page with what he said, along with a black and white photo of the two of them from the beginning of school.  Once I finished the page, I put it in a plain black frame.

I was very pleased with how it turned out and I think his teacher was too.  She has told me more than once how much she loves it.

In case you can't read what it says...The title is "What I Like About Mrs. Arbaugh".  The ten things he told me were:  1)She gives hugs.  2)She teaches me stuff.  3)She loves us.  4)She's pretty.  5)She lets us do fun stuff.  6)She never lets us forget lunch.  7)She lets us go to centers.  8)She's good to me.  9)She helps me to write better.  10)I love her!

Grayson loves Mrs. Arbaugh.  He has learned a lot from being in her class this year.  His first grade teacher has a lot to live up to.  In fact, Grayson is not so sure he wants to go on to first grade.  He told me he wants to stay in kindergarten next year...with Mrs. Arbaugh.
